We helped this dream become a reality almost five years ago out of the belief that Fort Worth and Tarrant County residents deserve better.

We still believe that — and in all of the people on our team and in our community who have taken this dream and turned it into a shining example for the country. We therefore want to stress this key point: The formula for our success has been, first and foremost, that the Fort Worth Report is for and from Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

As a nonprofit, we already return 100% of the money we raise to support our journalists and our local journalism organization. As a volunteer board, we do this work because we believe in the mission, as we know you do. In that, we are completely united.

We also want to be transparent about our perspective. The board and leadership team believe that a direct, independent relationship between Fort Worth Report and its staff has been central to our ability to serve this community with agility, trust and local accountability. That belief is rooted in our experiences here — not a judgment about anyone’s motivations or intentions. At the same time, we recognize the staff’s right to vote in the upcoming election, and we are committed to advancing the public good together regardless of the outcome.

As we look ahead, our shared work remains focused on deepening and expanding local, accountability-driven journalism as a public good — reaching more communities across Tarrant County, strengthening civic connection, and ensuring residents have the information they need to participate fully in public life.

A core part of Fort Worth Report’s work has always been listening — to residents, to partners, and to one another — and adapting our journalism to better serve the public. We know that listening does not always mean agreement, and that growth requires ongoing learning and reflection. We are committed to continuing that work with humility and openness in the days ahead.

We deeply thank you for your hard work and commitment to our mission of connecting our community through trusted local news and information. Our shared purpose has led us through the best year in the history of the Fort Worth Report.

Let’s keep this incredible momentum going. We’re here for you and for the people of Fort Worth and Tarrant County. Our door is open for this important conversation, and we have the utmost confidence in our top-notch management team to answer your questions and address any concerns.

Sincerely,

Fort Worth Report Board of Directors

This article first appeared on Fort Worth Report and is republished here under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.

by Chris Cobler, Fort Worth Report January 28, 2026 The following is a statement the Fort Worth Report’s…

[10
116,118,117
0":"post-141642","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fort-worth","8":"tag-fort-worth","9":"tag-fort-worth-headlines","10":"tag-fort-worth-news
["GET
