\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe city of Leander<\/a> held a soft opening for the new Senior Activity Center Jan. 13. The center is now open for residents on weekdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. with programming beginning Jan. 26, according to a city news release. <\/a><\/p>\n

The background<\/p>\n

A part of Leander\u2019s 2016 bond package<\/a>, the city broke ground on the project in May 2024, according to previous Community Impact reporting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The space is designed for residents ages 55 and older, according to the city\u2019s website<\/a>, offering individuals the opportunity to attend creative workshops, classes, group programs, social gatherings and participate in fitness activities.<\/p>\n

The activity center also includes amenities like cardio equipment, a covered patio, a game room, open court yard, trails, strength equipment, internet and more.<\/p>\n

Residents can secure their memberships for $25 annually and non-residents can join for $33.75 per year. Guest passes are also available for purchase for $3 per resident or $4.05 for non-residents.<\/p>\n

The celebration<\/p>\n

A grand opening celebration and building dedication are expected to take place in the spring. City Manager Todd Parton said the formal dedication ceremony will likely be in March, per previous reporting.<\/a><\/p>\n
