{"id":142002,"date":"2026-01-29T01:48:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:48:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/142002\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T01:48:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T01:48:08","slug":"risd-to-keep-schools-closed-through-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/142002\/","title":{"rendered":"RISD to keep schools closed through Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Richardson ISD<\/a> students may only make it to school one day this week.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/LHMS-a-scaled.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-123523\" class=\"size-full wp-image-123523\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/LHMS-a-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1625\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-123523\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo of LHMS by Carol Toler.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RichardsonISD\/status\/2016662733928710593?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">the district announced on social media<\/a> it would close schools the following day after concluding that \u201cadditional thawing is still needed on neighborhood streets and on our campuses to ensure safe travel for students and staff.\u201d RISD<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/closed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> also cited<\/a> remaining ice accumulation on campuses and travel concerns for staff living outside its boundaries as factors leading to the decision for Thursday closures.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/fwd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Weather Service\u2019s Fort Worth-Dallas office is predicting temperatures<\/a> in the low 20s on Wednesday night and potential freezing fog in Dallas County later in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>The district will release further information on potential makeup days in the near future, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Richardson ISD students may only make it to school one day this week.
