Authorities responded to a deputy-involved shooting at the Northline Transit Center in north Houston, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.<\/p>\n
Authorities said a deputy who was working an assignment with METRO Houston at the transit center on Fulton Street was reportedly attacked by a person with a knife.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the deputy shot and killed the attacker.<\/p>\n
Gonzalez said the attacker was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, but METRO officials later said they died at the scene. The deputy was taken to a hospital with what Gonzalez described as a “cut.” The deputy was reportedly in fair condition and is expected to survive.<\/p>\n
As of 7:45 p.m., the scene remained active as investigators worked to determine exactly what led up to the shooting. From Air 11, a heavy police presence was at the scene, and crime scene tape could be seen blocking the train stop and a nearby intersection.<\/p>\n
HCSO units, Houston Police Department units and METRO police units were spotted in the area. Gonzalez said HPD would lead the investigation.<\/p>\n
