Human trafficking is a real thing in DFW.<\/p>\n
Just ask Brooke Morris. In 2022, her 15-year-old daughter was lured from a Dallas Mavericks game, abducted, trafficked locally, and sold online out of state. She was rescued 10 days later in Oklahoma.<\/p>\n
Now, as major sporting events like the World Cup and Grand Prix come to Arlington, the threat \u2013 and reality \u2013 of human trafficking in our community may be greater than ever before.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s why Brooke Morris is coming to speak at Arlington ISD\u2019s Shatter the Silence on Jan. 29, an event designed to educate and empower our community to stop human trafficking.<\/p>\n
Date:\u00a0Thursday,\u00a0January 29, 2026 The event will also feature expert speakers with Unbound Now, The Women\u2019s Center Tarrant County and Arlington Police Department who will share insights and experiences on the realities of human trafficking.<\/p>\n The event will also include:<\/p>\n Interactive panel discussions on recognizing the signs of trafficking and how to respond.<\/p>\n Developmentally-appropriate workshops for students in kindergarten through second grades and third through fifth grades, offering age-relevant information on how to stay safe.<\/p>\n Whether you\u2019re a parent or guardian, concerned citizen, community leader, educator or professional, this event is for everyone committed to ending human trafficking.<\/p>\n Together, we can empower ourselves and others to create a safer community for all.
