{"id":142301,"date":"2026-01-29T06:22:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T06:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/142301\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T06:22:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T06:22:11","slug":"girl-scout-cookie-season-kicks-off-with-distribution-for-san-antonio-area-troops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/142301\/","title":{"rendered":"Girl Scout cookie season kicks off with distribution for San Antonio-area troops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">SAN ANTONIO \u2013 The 2026 Girl Scout cookie season has kicked off for San Antonio-area troops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWT) distributed boxes of cookies in Bexar and 20 other surrounding counties on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">GSSWT represents the nearly 250 troops and few thousand girls selling cookies in the region this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The demand for the popular treat is so high that distribution to troops runs for over four days in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIf you don\u2019t know anything about Girl Scouts, you at least know about the Girl Scout cookie program,\u201d said GSSWT Chief Development and Communications Officer Stephanie Finleon Cortez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s so iconic because so many women have gotten their start in business and learned such valuable skills selling Girl Scout cookies,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Cortez said the cookie program remains the largest entrepreneurial program for girls in the world as GSSWT enters its 102nd year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">With nearly 1.2 million cookie boxes sold in 2025, $800 million was raised to support troops nationwide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">This year, eight flavors are available for $5 a box. These include Thin Mints, Lemon-Ups, Adventurefuls, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, Samoas, Tagalongs, Toffee-Tastic and \u2014introducing for the first time \u2014 Exploremores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Inspired by rocky road ice cream, the new Exploremores cookie has flavors of chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond cr\u00e8me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Cookies will be sold at local stores, restaurants and other community areas until March 11.
