When you’re young, these words feel like total torture — but as you get a bit older, you kinda get why they did it. Fast food is expensive! It can often be pretty bad, even from massive chains (and that can be a big reason why it’s so bad)! And you have to get in your car to go and get it! No, no, no.

Now, Old El Paso is the latest food company to try to appeal to time-stressed parents who want to recreate the fast food experience with minimal fuss. It’s doing it with a dupe of a Taco Bell fan favorite: the good old Mexican Pizza.

Roll Up, Dolly Parton And Doja Cat: Old El Paso’s Mexican Pizza Copycat Makes This Meal Easy

To be honest, Old El Paso’s Mexican Pizza Kit looks pretty indistinguishable from the Taco Bell version, if the image on the box is anything to go by, at least. The kit, which has begun appearing in grocery stores, contains 12 tostadas, a seasoning sachet, and one pack each of queso and taco sauce. You’ll need to provide everything else, and cook the meat yourself (which obviously makes it a little less convenient than just pulling up to the drive-thru and ordering one, but hey, you can’t win ‘em all).

Whether Old El Paso’s Mexican Pizza unseats the love that famous faces like Dolly Parton and Doja Cat have for Taco Bell’s menu item remains to be seen. We kinda feel like it won’t, given that both stars were instrumental in the Mexican Pizza being brought back to Taco Bell after its hiatus, but you never know. Allegiances can switch fast.

Old El Paso’s Product Will Have To Compete With Taco Bell’s Own Grocery Line

If you’re a Taco Bell purist and can’t fathom the thought of switching over to Old El Paso, then you might just have to make do with its own grocery items, which it launched a couple of years back. The fast food chain sells taco kits, crunchy taco shells, and even a Crunchwrap Supreme kit in stores these days, so you can get your fix at home (although, again, is it really going to be as good?).

Taco Bell has yet to put out a Mexican Pizza kit of its own, though, and for now, Old El Paso has beat it to the punch. We wouldn’t be surprised if it scrambled to try and best its rivals (and even then, who knows if your kids will accept the at-home version — let’s be honest, it’s a hard sell).

You know what the most disappointing thing you could hear your parents say when you were a kid…

[12
138,140,139
0":"post-144014","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-el-paso","8":"tag-el-paso","9":"tag-el-paso-headlines","10":"tag-el-paso-news
["GET
