Candidate filing opened Jan. 14 and closes at 5 p.m. Feb. 13.

Place 2 council member Jeremy Tompkins has filed to seek reelection. Place 4 council member Perry Bynum has also filed to seek reelection and has drawn an opponent, Lee Ann Folau. Under city charter, Stinneford’s seat would be filled by a special election after it becomes vacant.

Martin was elected to the council in 2004 and as mayor in 2014. In her announcement that she would step down, she said the death of her husband, Don, last year had prompted deep reflection.

“I’ve come to realize that this is a time in my life when I need to focus on myself and on healing,” she said in a statement read by City Manager Chris Barker.

Martin said she would continue to live in Euless and remain active in the community.

Martin was elected to the City Council in 2004 and as mayor in 2014. She worked 35 years for American Airlines and then became active in Euless.

She is a member of the Euless Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and was a charter member of the Citizens Fire Academy. In 2021, she received the Clyde Mooney Award from the HEB Chamber of Commerce, the chamber’s highest honor.

In 2024, the Northeast Leadership Forum gave her its 2023 Distinguished Leader Award.
