Editor\u2019s note: Transcript provided by CoverGov<\/a>.<\/p>\n Water and wastewater rates in Colleyville will increase by 3.53% and 7.76%, respectively, instead of the 6.63% for water and 11% for wastewater originally estimated, City Council members learned in their Jan. 21<\/a> meeting.<\/p>\n Rate adjustments are subject to a pass-through charge from the Tarrant Regional Water District. The Colleyville 2025 water rate<\/a> was $6.24 per 1,000 gallons, while the wastewater rate for 2025 was $4.31 per 1,000 gallon. City staff alerted council members Jan. 6<\/a> to the possibility of the higher numbers.<\/p>\n The Tarrant Regional Water District \u201cis still raising the rates that we pass through,\u201d Cassie Smith, city finance director, told council members. \u201cWe\u2019re just not passing on all of that rate increase right now, because we think we can tighten the numbers a little bit for the residents.\u201d<\/p>\n The Jan. 21 second reading of the proposed ordinance was approved 6-0 by the City Council.<\/p>\n \u201cThis has changed from what we presented for the first reading,\u201d Smith said. \u201cWe had some citizens that had asked some questions, and we went back and reevaluated and did a comparison on what was recommended through the (water district) budget on what they\u2019re passing through. And we found that that was typically higher than what the actuals came out for the year. So we were able to lower both rates for the year about 3%.\u201d<\/p>\n The increase begins Feb. 1.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cNothing we can really do about it,\u201d Mayor Bobby Lindamood said at the Jan. 6 meeting.<\/p>\n Tarrant Regional Water District<\/a> provides water to more than 2.1 million residents in 11 North Texas counties, flood control measures, and recreational opportunities that include the Trinity River Trails.<\/p>\n TRWD owns and operates Eagle Mountain Lake<\/a>, Cedar Creek Lake<\/a>, Lake Bridgeport<\/a> and Richland Chambers Reservoir<\/a>.<\/p>\n
