LEVELLAND \u2013 For aspiring songwriters in the West Texas area, South Plains College\u2019s Creative Arts Department will host its fourth-annual Songwriter Competition at 7 p.m. on March 26 at the Tom T. Hall Studio in the Creative Arts Building on the Levelland campus.<\/p>\n
Artists must produce an original song and submit it as an audio file by Feb. 23 to SPC music instructor Jerry Serrano at jserrano@southplainscollege.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n The competition will be divided into two categories: high school writers ages 14 to 18 and adult writers ages 19 and older.<\/p>\n \u201cThe SPC Songwriter Competition continues to grow each year, and this fourth-annual event is a testament to the talent, passion, and storytelling that make our songwriting community so special,\u201d Serrano said. \u201cThis is a free event, and all are invited to attend.\u201d<\/p>\n SPC faculty will judge the entries and select six high school and six adult finalists to perform at the March 26 competition. Finalists will compete for awards, including a performance spot at a Cactus Theater show, merchandise, and logo design.<\/p>\n
