Tickets are now on sale for a new flight destination out of Asheville.<\/p>\n
Delta Airlines will begin direct nonstop service to Austin, Texas, June 13, \u201ca direct link to one of the country\u2019s most vibrant cities for music, food, tech, and culture,\u201d it announced in a Jan. 30 news release.<\/p>\n
Those flights will depart Saturdays through Sept. 5 with expanded service for Fourth of July weekend, it said.<\/p>\n
Sales began Jan. 31, a Delta spokesperson said in a Jan. 30 email.<\/p>\n
Asheville Regional Airport will also see more frequent flights to Chicago on larger planes starting in the spring, airport spokesperson Angi Daus told the Times-News Feb. 2 in a text message.<\/p>\n
That comes as the Asheville area saw heavy snow, leading to more than a dozen cancelations over the weekend of Jan. 30, she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOverall things went well and safely. Crews worked hard to allow for as much of our operations to take place as was deemed appropriate by the airlines and other operators on our airfield,\u201d Daus said.<\/p>\n
Because of extremely cold weather, the airport\u2019s taxi and ride app pickup spot is temporarily directly outside the terminal, outside the ticketing lobby, through Jan. 4, she said.<\/p>\n
