AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 The Austin Police Department, in collaboration with the FBI, has apprehended a suspect in the January 28, 2026, robbery of the Austin Telco Federal Credit Union.<\/p>\n
Syntedrick Brown, a 42-year-old Black male, was identified as the suspect through various investigative techniques, according to a press release from the Austin Police Department. By early Saturday morning, detectives had gathered substantial evidence to file formal charges against him. A joint search warrant was executed at Brown’s residence on February 2, 2026, resulting in the recovery of a significant amount of the stolen cash. Brown is now in federal custody.<\/p>\n
The robbery occurred at 10:09 a.m. on January 28, 2026, when a suspect entered the credit union at 12188 Jollyville Road, armed with a firearm. The suspect displayed the weapon to employees and demanded money before fleeing with a large amount of cash. The suspect was described as a male of average build, last seen wearing a black wig, ski goggles, a black mask, a yellow reflective vest, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants with reflective stripes, light-colored gloves, and dark shoes.<\/p>\n
The Austin Police Department initially sought the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information was encouraged to contact APD’s Robbery Unit or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.
