A former Celina ISD middle school coach accused of recording students in the locker room<\/a> was indicted by a grand jury in Collin County on Thursday. <\/p>\n

William \u201cCaleb\u201d Elliott was indicted on four charges, including possession of child pornography and two counts of sexual performance of a child, which are second-degree felonies. He was also charged with invasive visual recording in a bathroom or dressing room, which is a state jail felony, according to county records. <\/p>\n

Elliott, who coached middle school football and taught social studies, was arrested in October for allegedly filming students undressing in the locker room. Since then, at least four lawsuits filed by families of victims have claimed the school district and administrators were negligent in protecting students from Elliott\u2019s misconduct. One of the lawsuits named Bill Elliott<\/a>, decorated Celina High School football coach, who is Caleb Elliott\u2019s father. <\/p>\n

The younger Elliott was indicted by a federal grand jury<\/a> on eight counts of sexual exploitation of children in November. At least 30 families have been notified that photos of their children were found on Elliott\u2019s phone, according to filings in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. <\/p>\n

Last month, Celina ISD\u2019s school board released a third-party report<\/a> commissioned as part of the investigation into Elliott\u2019s behavior. The report concluded that while school administrators were not aware of Elliott\u2019s sexual misconduct, the district had \u201csystemic issues\u201d when it came to hiring in the athletic department and at the middle school. <\/p>\n

The report detailed how Bill Elliott exerted his influence as a football coach to make sure his son was hired at the district, even though Moore Middle School principal Allison Ginn<\/a> initially found him unqualified to be a teacher. Bill Elliott and Ginn resigned<\/a> from the district two days before the report was released. <\/p>\n
