EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 The Border Patrol in El Paso said it will keep a close eye on construction at the border after agents caught migrants trying to cross into the U.S., trying to blend in with the workers. <\/p>\n
According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson, on Jan. 9, Border Patrol agents said they caught two migrants, one from Mexico and another from Ecuador, sneaking into El Paso while trying to “blend in” with the workers at a construction site just over a mile away from the Paso Del Norte border crossing in Downtown.<\/p>\n
The CBP spokesperson stated that one of the migrants caught had a criminal background due to domestic assault, but failed to provide any further details. <\/p>\n
The migrant with the reported criminal background will be prosecuted under Title 8 USC 1326 “Reentry of Removed Aliens,” while the other will be prosecuted under 8 USC 1325 “Illegal Entry without Inspection.”<\/p>\n

Munoz. “Individuals attempting to enter the United States unlawfully in construction zones or anywhere in the El Paso Sector are subject to immediate detection, prosecution and removal.”<\/p>\n Furthermore, the announcement came with a warning saying that these construction sites along the Texas and New Mexico border can be dangerous as migrants are exposed to heavy equipment, construction vehicles, and unstable terrain. <\/p>\n CBP also wants to remind the public to stay away from these sites, as any trespassing “will not be tolerated,” and report any suspicious activity anonymously through their number 1-800-635-2509.<\/p>\n
