Harry Oplinger and Crystal Sarmiento, the removal is intended to simplify the registration process for residents and align <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/pearland-friendswood-manvel\/government\/2026\/01\/22\/manvel-reviews-final-report-of-strategic-plan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Manvel\u2019s<\/a> practices with surrounding cities, city officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The details<\/p>\n<p>Under the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.municode.com\/tx\/manvel\/codes\/code_of_ordinances?nodeId=PAIICOOR_CH5ALSY\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">existing ordinance<\/a>, alarm permits cost $50 for target=\"_blank\">council member<\/a> Oplinger cited several reasons for revising the ordinances, noting that only 12 commercial and 156 residential alarm system permits were registered in 2025,
