EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 The Socorro Independent School District has been recognized as the highest-scoring district in the El Paso region, according to the Texas Education Agency. <\/p>\n
Superintendent James Vasquez discussed the district’s achievements and future direction on KFOX14 Community Conversations, highlighting improvements over the past year that have led to this success.<\/p>\n
“The district leads at all levels in STAAR testing,” Vasquez said, emphasizing the importance of maintaining momentum without overwhelming educators and students.<\/p>\n
In addition to the district’s academic accomplishments, Vasquez has been named to the National School Public Relations Association’s annual list of Superintendents to Watch. <\/p>\n
This recognition comes after a challenging year in which the district faced a $42 million deficit. Vasquez, who was serving as interim superintendent at the time, took on the task of navigating the district through financial difficulties. <\/p>\n
