Corpus Christi Independent School District<\/a> (CCISD) is reminding families and staff that student safety remains a top priority amid circulating social media messages and rumors about possible protests near some campuses.<\/p>\nThe district emphasized that any activities not part of the planned instructional day\u00a0are\u00a0not permitted on school property, and students off campus during class without permission will receive an\u00a0unexcused absence.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Students under 18 may only leave school during the day when signed out by a parent or guardian.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Violations are subject to the Student Code of Conduct.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile we respect student voice and freedom of speech, all threats affecting students and staff are taken seriously,\u201d a district spokesperson said.\u00a0\u201cEven threats intended as pranks may result in disciplinary or legal action.\u201d<\/p>\n
CCISD also noted that\u00a0additional security measures may be visible on some campuses as a precaution to maintain a safe and welcoming learning environment.<\/p>\n
