\t\t\t\t\t\t\tHere are four transportation updates for the Lake Travis and Westlake areas, according to the Texas Department of Transportation<\/a> and Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority.<\/a><\/p>\n

Ongoing projects <\/p>\n

Loop 360\u2019s Westlake Drive\/Cedar Street<\/a> <\/p>\n

Project: As part of the larger Loop 360 Program, the project will remove traffic signals from main lanes, create an underpass beneath both cross streets, and add shared-use paths and sidewalks.<\/p>\n

Update: Both bridges are now open, and work on excavating the main lanes continues. Crews moved signals to permanent structures at Westlake Drive on Jan. 23.<\/p>\n

Timeline: project completion estimated mid-2026Cost: $72.1 millionFunding source: TxDOT, city of Austin 2016 Mobility Bond<\/a>Loop 360\u2019s Courtyard Drive\/RM 2222<\/a><\/p>\n

Project: The project will remove traffic signals from main lanes, construct an underpass at Courtyard Drive, reconfigure RM 2222 to include a diverging diamond interchange, and add shared-use paths and sidewalks.<\/p>\n

Update: Excavation is ongoing for the west cliffs by the southbound lanes.<\/p>\n

Hwy. 71 Safety Improvement Project<\/a><\/p>\n

Project: The project will implement medians on Hwy. 71 from Bee Creek Road to Bee Cave Parkway.<\/p>\n

Update: The median project was completed in January.<\/p>\n

Timeline: fall 2025-January 2026Cost: $2.8 millionFunding source: federal funding183 North Mobility Project northbound connector<\/a><\/p>\n

Project: The project includes the construction of two express lanes in each direction on US 183, a general-purpose lane to bring the number of nontolled lanes to four in each direction, new shared use path connections, new sidewalks and cross-street connections for bicycles and pedestrians.<\/p>\n

Update: The northbound direct connector opened Jan. 31 following the opening of the express lanes Jan. 2. The southbound express lanes and direct connector are slated to open in the coming months.<\/p>\n
