HOUSTON \u2013 Students at several Houston-area high schools are planning a student-led walkout on Friday, Feb. 6, to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) policies, according to information shared by students and community organizers.<\/p>\n
The walkouts are expected to take place during school hours, with most occurring around lunchtime. In several cases, students plan to leave campus and walk to nearby shopping centers or public gathering areas.<\/p>\n
As walkouts spread, school districts across the Houston area are making clear they do not support demonstrations during instructional time, while emphasizing student safety and campus security.<\/p>\n
So far, Houston-area districts have emphasized a consistent message: while student expression is protected, walkouts during instructional hours are not permitted, and disciplinary consequences may follow.<\/p>\n
Spring ISD<\/p>\n
