If you normally use I-30 to cut across the west side of Fort Worth, connect to Loop 820, or head toward the Weatherford/Aledo direction, this is going to affect you.

Why is I-30 closing?

TxDOT says the closure is needed for bridge demolition, specifically the removal of the RM 2871 (Longvue Avenue) bridge over I-30. That type of work typically requires a full shutdown for safety, both for crews and for anyone traveling underneath or near the work zone.

What to expect during the I-30 closure:

I-30 through traffic will be pushed to alternate routes, with I-20 and I-820 suggested as the primary options. Local access is expected to be maintained using the I-30 frontage roads (so you may be able to reach nearby businesses and neighborhoods, but it will be slower and more congested). Drivers should expect delays during the weekend window.

TxDOT lists the following ramp impacts during the weekend closure:

Eastbound ramp closures: Spur 580 entrance ramp; Chapel Creek entrance ramp (and the closure notice also indicates Alemeda access is impacted). Westbound ramp closures: the northbound and southbound Loop 820 direct connectors to westbound I-30, plus the Alemeda entrance ramp, and Cherry Lane / Las Vegas Trail entrances may be closed depending on traffic flow.

This is part of ongoing work in the corridor, and TxDOT’s own roadwork schedule shows other significant closures in the same area recently, including an overnight eastbound I-30 closure at Linkcrest the weekend before for overhead sign removal, along with multiple ongoing lane and frontage-road changes. So while this particular weekend shutdown is tied to the bridge demolition, the bigger picture is that this stretch of I-30 has been in a steady rotation of construction phases and traffic pattern changes.

How to plan around it:

If you are just passing through, use I-20 and Loop 820 instead of I-30. If you must stay local, expect a slow crawl on the frontage roads and follow the signed detours. Give yourself extra time for anything near the Loop 820/I-30 interchange, especially late Friday night and again Sunday as drivers try to return to normal routes.

If you can, the best move is simple: avoid this stretch of I-30 entirely from Friday night through Sunday afternoon.

[10
116,118,117
0":"post-153003","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-fort-worth","8":"tag-fort-worth","9":"tag-fort-worth-headlines","10":"tag-fort-worth-news
["GET
