according to the Beeville Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\nPolice said officers were dispatched around 4:51 p.m. to Eagles Landing Apartments for a reported pedestrian collision. While officers were en route, dispatch received an additional call reporting that a woman had been bitten by a dog connected to the incident.<\/p>\n
Officers found an adult man who had been struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway with his pit bull. Police said both the man and the dog were hit by a vehicle exiting the apartment complex.<\/p>\n
According to police, the dog became distressed due to injuries sustained in the collision and bit a nearby woman who attempted to help the injured man.<\/p>\n
Animal Control responded and safely secured the injured dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Beeville City Manger Andy Joslin, the man was transported by HALO-flight to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Investigators determined the suspect vehicle, a white Ford Expedition, left the scene after striking the man and his dog. Police said video footage and information gathered at the scene helped identify the vehicle and suspect.<\/p>\n
At approximately 5:48 p.m., officers said they located the vehicle with the suspect still inside. Police said physical evidence on the vehicle confirmed its involvement in the crash.<\/p>\n
The suspect was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid involving serious bodily injury, intoxication assault, and resisting arrest, according to BPD.\u00a0<\/p>\n
BPD officials said Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Beeville Independent School District police assisted with traffic control and scene security.<\/p>\n
Police said the investigation is ongoing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
