{"id":154082,"date":"2026-02-06T19:26:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T19:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/154082\/"},"modified":"2026-02-06T19:26:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T19:26:28","slug":"att-moves-forward-with-plano-hq-plans-after-rezoning-approval-local-profile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/154082\/","title":{"rendered":"AT&#038;T Moves Forward With Plano HQ Plans After Rezoning Approval &#8211; Local Profile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dropcap\">Plano is one step closer to welcoming AT&amp;T\u2019s global headquarters after the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission <a href=\"https:\/\/planotx.new.swagit.com\/videos\/373804\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">approved<\/a> the initial rezoning for the former Electronic Data Systems campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis move will bring our teams together under one roof and strengthen our long-term presence in the DFW region,\u201d CEO John Stankey shared with employees when the plans were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localprofile.com\/news\/att-picks-plano-for-massive-new-global-headquarters-11697058\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced on Jan. 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rezoning And Redevelopment Plans<\/p>\n<p>The rezoning request allows the property to be used for corporate headquarters, retail, office space and research facilities on the 54-acre site at 5400 Legacy Drive. The commission also approved a waiver to bypass Plano\u2019s standard two-year waiting period, allowing the project to move forward sooner. Final approval from the full Plano City Council is still required.<\/p>\n<p>Originally developed in 1985 as the headquarters for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localprofile.com\/news\/plano-pays-tribute-to-ross-perot-with-two-bridge-monuments-11739407\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ross Perot\u2019s<\/a> Electronic Data Systems, the site has a long history of large-scale innovation and business leadership. While the city had been positioning the property as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.localprofile.com\/real-estate\/4-billion-life-sciences-project-approved-for-plano-texas-9444273\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Research Quarter<\/a> \u2014 a life sciences and innovation district \u2014 AT&amp;T\u2019s relocation restores the campus to its original corporate headquarters role while maintaining its legacy of innovation.<\/p>\n<p>A Boost For Plano\u2019s Economy<\/p>\n<p>AT&amp;T, currently the largest Fortune 500 company based in Dallas and the second-largest in North Texas, ranks No. 37 on the national list.
