ARLINGTON, Texas \u2013 UT Arlington women’s tennis is back in action Saturday, hosting a doubleheader against the UT Dallas Comets and Lubbock Christian Chaparrals. The Mavericks kick the day off with their match against UT Dallas at 10 a.m. before their 2 p.m. bout against Lubbock Christian.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Both matches will take place at the UTA Tennis Center.<\/p>\n
UTA (0-3) is coming off a pair of losses to Big 12 teams. The Mavericks lost 7-0 to Arizona this past Saturday before falling to TCU 4-0 a day later.\u00a0 UTA’s efforts were highlighted by Vanja Cado<\/a> battling hard against TCU’s Cristina Ramos in singles play on Court 1.<\/p>\n Cado won six games against Ramos \u2014 the then-ITA-No. 103 ranked singles player in the country \u2013 before their match was left unfinished in the second set.\u00a0<\/p>\n In doubles play against Arizona, Natalia Gonzalez<\/a> and Tasnime Ahamout<\/a> dropped a hard-fought set to Arizona’s Ciara Moore and Stephanie Shogreen. Gonzalez and Ahamout’s bout against TCU was left unfinished.<\/p>\n The Mavericks swept UT Dallas 7-0 in both matches the two have ever played, the last of which came in 2024. UTA has never faced Lubbock Christian.<\/p>\n Scouting UT Dallas Scouting Lubbock Christian Andrea De Bernardo won the Chaparrals lone team point in both matches against Lamar. The junior won her singles tilt on Court 1 in the first match and another matchup on Court 2 in the final match. De Bernardo also competed on Court 1 against McNeese State and Court 2 against then-No. 2 Texas A&M, both of which were losses.

\nThe Comets first dual match of the spring is against Southern Arkansas on Friday afternoon. UT Dallas has a roster of eight players \u2014 four of which are freshman \u2014 and are coached by Bryan Whitt, who has coached the Comets men’s and women’s tennis teams since 2004.<\/p>\n
\nThe Chaparrals enter Saturday with all four of their spring matches coming against Division I competition. Lubbock Christian most recently was swept 7-0 by McNeese State and lost 4-1 in both matches of a doubleheader against Lamar the day before.\u00a0<\/p>\n
