American National Bank of Texas (ANBTX), one of the oldest and largest independently owned community banks in Texas with more than $5.5 billion in assets, announced today the promotion of Chris Cronin to president. Cronin, who has been with ANBTX for more than 37 years, has a proven track record of leadership, most recently serving as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. Robert Hulsey will continue to lead the bank and serve as chief executive officer (CEO) in a more strategic capacity.<\/p>\n

In his new role as president, Cronin will oversee day-to-day operations with responsibility for all banking functions and mortgage as well as certain corporate functions. He and his teams will work closely with executive leadership to continue advancing and executing the bank\u2019s short- and long-term priorities.<\/p>\n

In addition to his banking leadership, Cronin is highly active in his community as well as those communities served by the bank. He has served on numerous city- and school-appointed boards and commissions, including as chairman of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, and as a past director of the McKinney, Rockwall and Forney Chambers of Commerce and the Heard Natural Science Museum. His civic leadership also includes serving as chairman of the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee for the McKinney Independent School District (ISD) and chairman of the successful \u201cVote Yes\u201d campaign, which helped pass a $197 million bond proposal for the McKinney ISD. He also served on the McKinney ISD Strategic Planning Committee and as a member of the Collin County Planning Board, the McKinney Alliance and Baylor Hospital in McKinney.<\/p>\n

Cronin earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in business from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University\u2013Commerce). He is also a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Cannon Institute of Real Estate Lending.<\/p>\n
