<\/p>\n ARLINGTON, Texas \u2013 Behind a season-high 17 points from Laura Bello<\/a> and poise at the line from Kira Reynolds<\/a>, UT Arlington women’s basketball\u00a0 (10-13, 4-7 WAC)\u00a0 outlasted Utah Valley (10-12, 3-8 WAC) 60-59 in overtime on Saturday night at the College Park Center.<\/p>\n Bello finished with 17 points and nine rebounds, while Reynolds also scored 17 and delivered key free throws in the closing minutes. The Lady Mavs controlled the glass, 44-37, and turned defense into offense with 25 points off turnovers to escape with the one-point overtime win.<\/p>\n GAME FLOW<\/p>\n The Lady Mavs claimed a 15-14 edge in the opening quarter, pushing tempo and turning stops into scoring chances. Utah Valley responded in the second, outscoring UTA 7-6 to knot the game at the break.<\/p>\n Laura Bello<\/a> set the tone offensively, leading all scorers with 10 points, while Jadyn Atchison<\/a> added five. UTA controlled the glass with a 21-15 rebounding advantage, including four offensive boards, and made Utah Valley pay for miscues on the other end.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0“I’ve always been a hustle player…my moment just came today, and I did what I was supposed to do,” said Bello.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n Despite nine first-half turnovers of their own, the Mavericks stayed even by winning the hustle categories and finishing possessions. UT Arlington and Utah Valley went into the locker room deadlocked, 21-21.<\/p>\n Utah Valley edged the third 16-11, leaning heavily on the free-throw line. Still, UT Arlington stayed within striking distance by defending without fouling on the perimeter and continuing to share the ball offensively.<\/p>\n The Wolverines went just 4-of-17 from the field and 0-of-6 from three in the quarter, scoring half of their points at the line.\u00a0<\/p>\n UT Arlington closed out a hard-fought 60-59 overtime victory with defense and composure, holding Utah Valley scoreless over the final possessions to secure the win.<\/p>\n
