\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEllie’s Caf\u00e9 and Tea Room<\/a> recently opened in High Street Antiques & Design<\/a> in Plano, business owner Selwin Flores said.<\/p>\n

The Chocolate Angel, which closed Jan. 23, was previously housed at this location.<\/p>\n

The new business serves a variety of salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts.<\/p>\n

Some of the menu items that were on The Chocolate Angel menu, like chicken salad and broccoli salad, are also on Ellie\u2019s Cafe and Tea Room menu<\/a> but the recipes have been altered, Flores said.<\/p>\n

Some new items have been added to the menu and have already proven popular choices including a Mediterranean quinoa bowl and a hamburger called The Flint.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe named it after Mr. Robert Flint who is a regular customer of ours\u2014he’s here every Saturday with his wife. He’s the one that first requested that hamburger,\u201d Flores said. \u201cWe were overwhelmed by how many people were ordering it. It’s our top selling sandwich.\u201d<\/p>\n

What\u2019s in a name?<\/p>\n

Flores said although he named the business after his nine year old daughter, the decision was solidified when he learned of the religious connotations of the name.<\/p>\n

(Karen Chaney\/Community Impact)\u201cIn Greek, \u2018Ellie\u2019 means light or shining\u2014which really represents Ellie\u2014she’s just a ray of sunlight,\u201d Flores said. \u201cThe other [meaning], which is the one that sealed the deal for me, is \u2018God is my oath\u2019. We’ve seen God’s hand since day one in all of this. He has opened up the doors that needed to be opened and closed the doors that needed to be closed.\u201d<\/p>\n
