ARLINGTON, Texas — After a stellar opening weekend, Mia McNulty<\/a> has earned Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors the first week of the softball season.\u00a0<\/p>\n McNulty paced the Mavericks at the plate, recording hits in four of five contest while driving runs in three separate games. She opened the weekend against UMass Lowell, going one-for-three, before turning in a breakout showing versus New Mexico State, finishing two-for-four with three RBI, a home run and two runs scored.\u00a0<\/p>\n The junior continued her hot streak during Saturday’s doubleheader against UTEP, posting back-to-back three-for-for performances. In the first game, McNulty scored twice and added an extra-base hit, then followed with a another\u00a0three-for-four outing in game two, driving in three runs while scoring twice.\u00a0<\/p>\n McNulty capped the weekend with her most impressive performance against New Mexico State, going two-for-four with with five RBI and two home runs, while crossing the plate three times to power the Mavericks’ offense.\u00a0<\/p>\n Across the weekend, McNulty totaled double-digit hits, drove in 11 runs and homered three times, establishing herself as one of the league’s most productive hitters.\u00a0<\/p>\n NEXT UP — #BuckEm \u2013<\/p>\n \nFOLLOW THE MAVS
\nThe Mavericks look to host its home opening tournament, Dream City Invitational, this upcoming weekend Feb. 13-15. UTA will play Wisconsin at 3 p.m. CT and Tulsa at 5:30 p.m and a Saturday doubleheader against Iowa State at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Mavs will conclude the weekend with another game on Sunday against Tulsa at 11:30 a.m.
