Alamo Drafthouse<\/a> has closed its theaters <\/a>in El Paso, Houston and Lubbock. Patrons who attempted to purchase movie tickets on the Alamo Drafthouse<\/a> website were only offered listings through Feb. 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to the teammates and guests in El Paso, Katy, and Lubbock for their support over the years and wish them all the best. We hope to return to these communities in the future,\u201d Alamo Drafthouse stated on its website<\/a>.\u00a0According to a social media post<\/a>, Alamo Drafthouse will no longer operating with their franchise partner Triple Tap Ventures, who will be closing their theaters in all three cities indefinitely for a rebrand.<\/p>\n

Alamo Drafthouse will be offering refunds to customers affected by the announcement. All outstanding ticket orders will be cancelled and an automatic refund will be issued through email. For season pass holders, each subscription will be automatically cancelled and a prorated refund will be issued for the remaining billing cycle.<\/p>\n

What is Alamo Drafthouse?<\/p>\n

Alamo Drafthouse was founded in Austin by Tim and Karrie League on May 24, 1997. Their first theater was located at 409 Colorado St. Now, the companyhas 50 locations\u00a0across the United States, including 15 franchised locations. According to Sony Pictures, who acquired Alamo Drafthouse in 2024<\/a>, they are the seventh-largest movie-theater chain in North America.<\/p>\n

The brand has recently faced backlash from fans after they announced a departure from its pen-and-paper food ordering system,<\/a> now requiring moviegoers to order exclusively through their phones starting in February.
