Corpus Christi police say a 47-year-old man has died after being shot during a family disturbance last week. A suspect was arrested, and charges may be upgraded.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A man has died days after being shot during a family disturbance in the southside of Corpus Christi, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.<\/p>\n
The shooting happened last Wednesday around 6:26 p.m. at the 4000 block of Ranch Lake Drive near Yorktown Boulevard and Sun Valley Drive.<\/p>\n
CCPD Public Information Officer Madeline Vaughn said officers arrived to find a 47-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound and provided first aid until medics arrived. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His name has not been released by officials at this time.<\/p>\n
CCPD Lieutenant David Saldana told 3NEWS on the night of the incident that the shooting stemmed from a family disturbance at a residence. Vaughn later confirmed all parties involved knew each other.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Several people were detained at the scene while officers investigated.<\/p>\n
51-year-old Veronica Montoya was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It was not immediately clear whether her charge will be upgraded following the victim\u2019s death. Officials with CCPD believe her charges will be upgraded, but couldn’t say when.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vaughn said the incident is considered isolated and remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
