AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 The Austin Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in catalytic converter thefts on January 19, 2026, in the 6000 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard.<\/p>\n
The first suspect is described as a Black male with long hair, last seen wearing a light-colored hoodie sweater. The second suspect is a Black female, last seen wearing a dark hair net and a dark-colored hoodie sweater. The suspect vehicle is a light-colored SUV, according to a press release from the Austin Police Department.<\/p>\n
The APD Auto Theft Unit has noted a recent increase in catalytic converter thefts, with Toyota, Mitsubishi, and Honda vehicles being the most targeted. Specifically, the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma models are frequently targeted.<\/p>\n
Thefts are not yet widespread, but the APD aims to inform the public of this trend. They recommend parking in well-lit areas, using anti-theft devices, and staying aware of surroundings to prevent becoming a victim.<\/p>\n
