The US FERC said on Monday it granted Corpus Christi Liquefaction\u2019s February 2 request to introduce feed gas to the warm end of Midscale Train 5 for the Stage 3 project.<\/p>\n
Following this, Cheniere is now expected to seek approval to introduce feed gas to the cold end of the train.<\/p>\n
Last month, Cheniere\u00a0kicked off<\/a>\u00a0commissioning activities at the fifth train of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project.<\/p>\n Cheniere expects this train and the two remaining three trains to achieve substantial completion in 2026.<\/p>\n The project is ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n Expansion<\/p>\n In June 2022, Cheniere\u00a0made the final investment decision\u00a0<\/a>on the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project, worth about $8 billion, while compatriot\u00a0Bechtel\u00a0officially started construction\u00a0<\/a>on the project in October of the same year.<\/p>\n The project includes building seven midscale trains, each with an expected liquefaction capacity of about 1.49 mtpa. However, Cheniere is\u00a0seeking authorization<\/a>\u00a0from the US FERC to increase the capacity of these trains and the other two midscale trains.<\/p>\n In March 2025, Cheniere\u00a0achieved<\/a>\u00a0substantial completion of the first liquefaction train at the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project, while the company\u00a0completed<\/a>\u00a0the second liquefaction train in August,\u00a0the third train<\/a>\u00a0in October, and\u00a0the fourth train<\/a>\u00a0in December.<\/p>\n The project was 94.1 percent complete <\/a>as of the end of last year.<\/p>\n Moreover, the Midscale Trains 8 & 9 project, for which\u00a0FID was made\u00a0<\/a>in June last year, was 31.8 percent complete.<\/p>\n Upon completion of these expansion projects, and together with expected debottlenecking, the Corpus Christi LNG terminal is expected to reach over 30 mtpa in total liquefaction capacity later this decade, according to Cheniere.<\/p>\n
