Houston police are investigating a shootout that left one suspect injured after an attempted jugging near a gun range in southwest Houston.<\/p>\n

Houston Police Department officials called the incident an attempted \u201cgun jugging.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to HPD, officers were called to the 5300 block of Rampart around the South Gessner area after reports of a shooting. <\/p>\n

Investigators say an adult male had just left a nearby gun range and was driving home when he was followed by three suspects.<\/p>\n

Police said the suspects attempted to rob the man and grabbed a bag containing guns. The victim was armed with two guns, and a shootout ensued involving multiple firearms. During the exchange, the victim shot one of the suspects in the chin area.<\/p>\n

The suspect who was shot was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. Police have not released details about the suspect\u2019s condition or whether any weapons were recovered.<\/p>\n

The two other suspects abandoned their car at the scene and fled before officers arrived. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

The incident remains under investigation as officers work to determine the sequence of events and locate any outstanding suspects.<\/p>\n
