Getty Images<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasointernationalairport.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">El Paso airport describes<\/a> itself as the gateway to West Texas, southern New Mexico, and northern Mexico.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/tfr3\/?page=detail_6_2233\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FAA officials<\/a> said the restrictions are in place for special security reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Canales, an El Paso city representative, claimed officials did not receive advance notice about the pending restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re all trying to work out why this crazy NOTAM was issued by the FAA,\u201d Canales <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/ElPaso\/comments\/1r1qw1j\/comment\/o4rjhnj\/?context=3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on Reddit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt isn\u2019t a typo or error. FAA issued this NOTAM intentionally as written. Nobody local got advance notice \u2013 neither civilian nor military leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMilitary does not have cart blanche exemption. Army seems to be fretting about their flights tomorrow just as much as everyone else. Local air traffic controllers didn\u2019t get advance notice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is a developing story.
