Ree Drummond and baby Sofia share a connection like no other. It doesn’t matter whether they’re vacationing in snowy Colorado, walking through the bustling streets of New York City, or cuddling in the cozy quarters of Drummond Ranch—they always light up (and laugh a lot) when they’re together! This past weekend, Ree ventured down to Dallas to spend a few days with her granddaughter, and her trip was filled with playtime and endless giggles!

Ree began her Dallas getaway stopping by her daughter Paige’s house to meet her new granddog, Murphy, which was a massive success—and a major love fest! Then, since Ree’s oldest daughter, Alex, had a busy weekend with friends, Ree and Paige babysat Sofia and Alex’s golden retriever, George. While Ree didn’t post much during her babysitting gig (she was too busy enjoying Sofia’s company!), she did share a sweet snapshot of baby Sofia curled up on Paige’s lap in her nursery while intently listening to her aunt read her a story. (Of course, given the loyal and curious companion that he is, George was also in the frame.)

Alex Drummond

Once Alex returned home, she caught her Instagram followers up on what her mom and daughter were up to while she was out and about. “ReeRee came to town this weekend!!!” Alex shared on her Instagram story. The photo Alex uploaded shows baby Sofia looking so cute and cozy in her pajamas while cuddling with Ree in an accent chair. Even though the TV is on in the background, they’re both too busy laughing with one another to watch whatever show is on. Even George looks mesmerized by their infectious giggles! When Ree later reposted her daughter’s Instagram Story, she added the cutest caption, calling baby Sofia “my angel.”

Alex also posted a behind-the-scenes snippet of Ree and Sofia’s playtime, which included a few adorable rounds of peek-a-boo. In the clip on Alex’s Instagram story, baby Sofia is sitting in an inflatable playpen, while Ree takes turns alternating between hiding behind the top rim and popping her head out. Every time Ree lowers the bar and exposes her face, Sofia hops up on her feet, reaches her hands toward Ree, and has a hearty chuckle, which, in turn, makes Ree laugh.

Then, Ree decides to keep things interesting by zipping up the playpen’s mesh barrier, which conceals the opening Sofia had been looking through. The new addition to the game, however, seems to throw Sofia off, because once Ree unseals the cover a second later, Sofia—who was leaning against the temporary wall—falls through the hole. This gives Ree a deep belly laugh, and Sofia, who’s unfazed by the drop, just laughs along with her. Then, they’re back at their game of peek-a-boo, picking up right where they left off—just with a little more laughter from Ree!

It’s heart-melting moments like these that remind us to slow down and soak up all the simple pleasures of everyday life.
