ARLINGTON, TX \u2013\u00a0UT Arlington’s Dorcas Jepkosgei<\/a> and Eliza Lemberga<\/a> earned Western Athletic Conference weekly honors the conference announced Wednesday. The freshman surpassed the previous UTA program record set by junior Matro Jepkemboi<\/a> last season at the same competition (9:38.75).\u00a0The reigning WAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year also topped a competitive field that included athletes from Rice, Texas State, UTRGV and UTSA. The freshman ranks fourth in the WAC in women’s 3000m.<\/p>\n Lemberg\u00a0led the way for the Mavericks on Friday night, placing fourth in the pentathlon with a personal best score of 4,052 points. \nJepkosgei delivered a historic performance to headline UT Arlington track and field’s showing at the Charlie Thomas Invitational on Saturday at the Fasken Indoor Track, capturing first place and breaking the school record in the women’s 3000 meters. The freshman crossed the line in 9:35.26, setting a new UTA program mark while earning the event victory.<\/p>\n
