{"id":161102,"date":"2026-02-12T05:21:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T05:21:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/161102\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T05:21:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T05:21:22","slug":"man-accidentally-shoots-himself-while-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/161102\/","title":{"rendered":"Man accidentally shoots himself while driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man apparently shot himself by accident while driving down State Highway 361 in Port Aransas tonight (Wednesday, Feb. 11), but the wound doesn\u2019t appear to be major, police said.<\/p>\n<p>A preliminary investigation has indicated the following, according to Chief James Stokes of the Port Aransas Police Department:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The man was making a turn near the Dollar General store when his firearm accidentally slid across his seat, prompting him to grab for the gun. The firearm went off, hitting him in the midsection.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 He drove a short distance further, to Port A RV, where he has a space, then stopped, and the EMS and police were summoned. His exact condition couldn\u2019t be determined, but the injury didn\u2019t appear to be severe.
