ABILENE, Texas \u2013\u00a0UT Arlington men’s basketball (14-10, 6-6 WAC) dropped a 67-63 decision at Abilene Christian (11-13, 3-8 WAC) on Thursday night at Moody Coliseum, completing its daunting three-game league road swing through the Western Athletic Conference. \u2013 #BuckEm\u00a0\u2013<\/p>\n \u00a0

\nA second-half scoring drought that saw UTA go more than seven minutes without a field goal was the difference. Over that time, the Wildcats turned a 35-35 game into an 11-point bulge (47-36) with nine minutes left.

\nUT Arlington finished with 22 turnovers, the team’s second most in a game this year. The loss extended the team’s losing streak to four games, the last three of which came away from home.

\nThe Wildcats led by as many as 14 with 4:24 left, but once again the hard-charging Mavericks made it a one-possession game with 1:04 to play on a conventional three-point play by sophomore Cash Chavis<\/a>. Chavis scored seven of his team-high 20 in the final 65 seconds.

\nSenior Marcell McCreary<\/a> finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, one shy of a double-double. Fellow senior Raysean Seamster<\/a> had 11 points and seven boards, while sophomore Tyran Mason<\/a> (10) reached double figures in scoring for the third straight outing.

\nThe Mavericks shot 62.5 percent from the field in the opening stanza (10-for-16), while Abilene Christian made just 28.6 percent of its tries (10-for-35), but the Mavericks turned the ball over 11 times to just four for ACU. As a result, UTA maintained just a three-point lead at intermission (27-24).

\nThe Mavs return home Saturday, Feb. 14, to face Southern Utah (8-16, 4-7 WAC) and kickstart a three-game homestand. The game, which is the 200th regular-season men’s basketball game in College Park Center history, tips off at 2 p.m. CT. It will be broadcast live on ESPN+<\/a> and on the radio on the Varsity Network App with the Voice of the Mavs, Josh Sours.
