Nueces County Commissioner Brent Chesney<\/a> says the project is coming in under budget, despite extensive construction efforts.<\/p>\n\u201cThe cost for Bob Hall Pier has actually come in less than expected,\u201d Chesney said. \u201cThe work done has now come in under budget despite all of the construction that has gone into putting everything together.\u201d<\/p>\n
While the pier is set to open to the public at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, Chesney emphasized that some construction will continue, including the removal of the secondary trestle used during the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cHalf of it is gone. They’re taking it down as we speak. It will be a continued construction site because we will be building the restaurant in addition to the pier,\u201d\u00a0Chesney said.\u00a0\u201cThere will be some things that will have to be logistically worked out to where people can have unfettered access, but we anticipate that\u2019s not going to slow anything down from people getting on the pier either.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chesney adds that the construction will not prevent people from visiting the pier.\u00a0<\/p>\n
