Colleyville City Council members approved $313,000 for a preliminary design to address Bedford Road bridge floodplain issues.<\/p>\n

Council members, at their Feb. 3<\/a> meeting, unanimously approved up to $313,400 for Halff Associates Inc.<\/a>, to design the planned Bedford Road bridge and Little Bear Creek project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scope of this project includes analysis, environmental and design services specifically to establish the preliminary design,\u2019\u2019 Lisa Escobedo, Colleyville public works director<\/a>, said at the meeting before the vote.<\/p>\n

The plan is to \u201cbring Bedford Road<\/a> from Saddlebrook Drive to Somerset Boulevard up above the Little Bear Creek floodplain,\u201d Escobedo added.<\/p>\n

The $2.5 million Bedford Road bridge construction project<\/a> is planned for 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is something that\u2019s been needed for quite a while,\u201d Mayor Bobby Lindamood said. \u201cAnd so hopefully we can kind of clear that little area up and improve it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor said the city staff is working with U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) \u201cto help us out on the sidewalks and the bridge and all kinds of stuff as well. So maybe we have some more funding that comes through for that as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
