LUBBOCK, Texas \u2013\u00a0The UT Arlington track and field team wrapped up competition at the Jarvis Scott Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by several strong distance performances on both the men’s and women’s sides. NEXT UP #BuckEm<\/p>\n FOLLOW ALONG

\nOn the women’s side, senior Kayan Green<\/a> recorded a third-place finish in the women’s 1000-meters, clocking a time of 2:57.89. Freshman Dorcas Jepkosgei<\/a> continued an impressive indoor season, earning third place in the mile with a time of 4:53.31.
\n\u00a0
\nUTA also saw solid depth in the women’s mile, as Matro Jepkemboi<\/a> placed. Seventh (4:58.73) and Linn Aldofsson followed closely behind in eighth (4:58.78).
\n\u00a0
\nThe men’s distance group turned in multiple top-five finishes as well. Sophomore Toby Eaton<\/a> placed fourth in the mile, posting a time of 4:16.04, while freshman Mateo Doherty<\/a> finished fifth in 4:16.17. In the men’s 1000m, Leo LeGrand<\/a> earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 2:27.79.

\nOther standouts from today include freshmen triple jumpers Arieanna Mcpeak<\/a>, earning tenth place (12.23m) and Abisayo Gbakino earning eighth place (14.84m). Another freshman Lucas Cano<\/a> threw well in men’s shot put with a mark of 16.72m, earning tenth place.

\nUTA also picked up notable performances in the field events by three freshman. Arieanna Mcpeak<\/a> placed 10th in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 12.23 meters, while Abisayo Gbakino earned eighth place at 14.84 meters. Lucas Cano<\/a> also recorded a mark of 16.72 meters in the men’s shot put to place 10th.

\n“Dorcas ran really well in the mile, Arieanna had a good day in triple jump and so did Abisayo,” said Coach Sauerhage. “Lucas also threw really well in shot put.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Mavericks will prepare for the WAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, set for Friday, Feb. 27 through Saturday, Feb. 28.
