Did you know that fats, oils and grease can harden in pipes and sewer lines, causing blockages and major clogs? When household pipes and city sewer systems can’t handle these materials, it can lead to sewer overflows. This results in city crews having to shut down streets, disrupting traffic, and increasing costs for both you and the city.<\/p>\n
This holiday season, please don\u2019t pour cooking oil down the drain! Instead, after deep-frying, let the used oil cool, then transfer it into a rigid plastic container with a screw-top lid\u2014perhaps the original container the oil came in.\u00a0Even small amounts of grease, like what is left in the skillet after frying a few strips of bacon, should not be poured down household drains. Prevent clogs by wiping greasy pots and pans with a paper towel before washing them in the sink.<\/p>\n
Join us for the 12th Annual Holiday Grease Roundup! Recycle your used oil from Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, to Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at one of the following Arlington drop-off locations:<\/p>\n

\nTrinity River Authority, 5300 S. Collins St. (7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday)

The receptacles are provided by American BioSource. American BioSource recycles used cooking oil to make biodiesel fuel or biogas, reducing landfill waste and producing an alternative fuel that is clean, and green fuel.<\/p>\n
Residents who have more than five gallons of used cooking oil to recycle can request pick up at their home by calling Arlington Water Utilities at 817-459-5902 during the Holiday Grease Roundup timeline.<\/p>\n
This collection is for cooking oil and grease only. Motor oil and other automotive fluids are not accepted.<\/p>\n
