Rain cleared<\/a> across North Texas, but the travel headaches lingered at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.<\/p>\nMore than 200 flights were canceled at DFW, with hundreds more delayed.<\/p>\n
David Allison said he felt the storm before touching down.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe turbulence coming down was like riding a roller coaster,” he said.<\/p>\n
His flight home from Charlotte was delayed a few hours. Even that was enough to disrupt plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cEven a small delay can absolutely ruin any plans that you have,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For the Boise State gymnastics team, delays carried higher stakes.<\/p>\n
The team is competing Sunday at the Metroplex Challenge in Fort Worth \u2014 one of the largest gymnastics events in the world, with more than 8,000 athletes from 42 states and three countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen things like this happen, it’s unfortunate, because we plan itineraries down to the minute,\u201d said Hope Masiado, Boise State gymnastics director of operations.<\/p>\n
Missing the competition would have been significant, but the team found another flight just in time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe’re going to make the trip happen. It’s just a matter of when we were going to get down there,\u201d she said. \u201cThey just moved right along. We call it the goldfish mentality.\u201d<\/p>\n
American Airlines accounted for more than half of the cancellations at DFW Airport.
