Jason Corley is seeking the Congressional seat Jodey Arrington will soon vacate because \u201cWe got to do something about the inflation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School in 2001 \u2013 graduated from West Texas A&M in 2006,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

He worked in oil fields for a decade for Halliburton and other companies.<\/p>\n

\u201cI worked in Oklahoma, Eastern New Mexico, South Texas and West Texas in oil and gas,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlong the way, my wife and I built an online business called RoughneckStuff.com,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

An archive of the website \u2013 which sold new and used flame-resistant clothing \u2013 revealed a TV commercial featuring Corley and the tag line, \u201cYou don\u2019t have to pay oilfield prices for oilfield clothing!\u201d<\/p>\n

He described himself and his wife as serial entrepreneurs \u2013 having done different businesses over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe rented a building that used to have a dry cleaners in it. Everybody kept bringing us their dry cleaning. So, we set up a pickup service so we could still have a dry cleaner here in Slaton,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe opened up a pizza place here in Slaton, did that for about two years. \u2026 Had a construction business, demolition business, had a welding crew at one time. \u2026 I don\u2019t idle well. That\u2019s the worst thing you can do is leave me with nothing to do,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Most folks know him as a Lubbock County commissioner for Precinct 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cChristian, a husband, a father \u2013 I\u2019ve got a 19-year-old and a 13-year-old. My son\u2019s at Texas Tech, going to school for petroleum engineering. Wife\u2019s an assistant principal at Southland ISD,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Top priority: Inflation<\/p>\n

\u201cFor all the problems that I\u2019ve dealt with as a county commissioner, the worst problem that I\u2019ve dealt with in the last seven years has been inflation,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Lubbock County voters approved a road bond in 2019 before COVID.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is as if we took the money, put it under the mattress, came back and found out that the rats ate 80 percent of it,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Inflation wrecks the county\u2019s budget along with everyone else\u2019s budget on healthcare, drug prices, costs for farmers (like pesticides and fertilizer) and affordable housing, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cInflation is the root of all of our problems,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

He gave the cost of law enforcement vehicles as one example.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll those items went up in price. Look at the price of Tahoes. Those shot through the roof. Well, it\u2019s the number one cop car in America. Ford Explorers are right behind them. Those went up in price,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Corley thinks federal spending should be cut \u2013 starting with foreign aid.<\/p>\n

\u201cStop giving our money to other countries. Let them hate us for free,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Only American citizens and American companies should hold the national debt. As a nation, we should not borrow from China, he said.<\/p>\n

Concerning border policy, Corley said, \u201cDonald Trump\u2019s doing a great job of enforcing the laws that are already on the books, which is what should already be done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we\u2019ve got control of the House, what we need to be doing is get a bill passed that says that border states \u2013 that have to defend themselves on the border crisis \u2013 may submit once a quarter for reimbursement from the federal government,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

On terms limits, he said he personally would only serve for about 10 years. But he said there\u2019s something more urgent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want to start solving our problems in lobbying, end the practice of lobbying completely. Nobody has any business talking to your congressman except for the constituents of that congressional district. \u2026 You shouldn\u2019t be able to buy a congressman,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever gets elected needs to remember that they are from one of the reddest districts in the entire country. They need to be on the news every night. espousing conservative values and pushing our nation in the conservative direction,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

Some Republicans are in swing districts and cannot speak up, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s where we need to be stepping up. We need to be leading this nation as a deep red conservative district,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n
