Cade Cunningham becomes minority owner of hometown Texas Rangers<\/p>\n

Detroit Pistons<\/a> two-time All-Star Cade Cunningham<\/a> has purchased a minority ownership stake in his hometown Texas Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

ESPN insider Shams Charania broke the news ahead of NBA All-Star week in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Detroit Pistons All-Star and Arlington, Texas native Cade Cunningham has purchased a minority ownership stake of his hometown MLB team, the Texas Rangers, he told ESPN.<\/p>\n

The Texas native is one of the athlete-investors at Sportsology Capital Partners, which recently finalized a minority investment in the Rangers.<\/p>\n

Cunnigham blossomed into a star in the Arlington area, becoming a five-star recruit in high school and one of the top players in the 2020 class.<\/p>\n

On December 17,\u00a0Cunningham had his high school jersey retired in a ceremony attended by his teammates, family, and friends at Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas.<\/p>\n

Now, Cunningham will serve on the ownership board for the baseball club he grew up idolizing.<\/p>\n

Best known for his on-court dominance as the Pistons\u2019 star guard, Cunningham has been equally successful off the court.<\/p>\n

Cunningham, the No.1 overall pick in the 2021\u00a0NBA<\/a>\u00a0Draft, will become the sixth active NBA player with a Nike signature shoe deal<\/a>. His signature sneaker is projected to release during the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n

Detroit Pistons superstar Cade Cunningham has reached a new six-year endorsement agreement to re-sign with Nike \u2013 and will receive his own signature shoe with the brand, his representatives at Excel Sports Management told ESPN. His signature shoe is expected to debut in 2026-27. <\/p>\n

Soon, the Pistons star will join a star-studded list that includes Kevin Durant<\/a>, LeBron James<\/a>, Ja Morant, Devin Booker and Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/a>\u00a0as active players with a signature shoe.<\/p>\n

To land an endorsement deal with Nike, you have to be pretty darn good. But to earn a signature Nike shoe deal in your namesake, one must be a generational talent. Cunningham has proven to be the latter.<\/p>\n

Cunningham earned his second career All-Star nod in just five seasons. The former\u00a0No. 1 overall pick\u00a0will represent the\u00a0USA Stars\u00a0on Sunday, further solidifying his status as one of the league\u2019s premier young guards.<\/p>\n

He is averaging 25.3 points, 9.6 assists and 5.6 rebounds this season.<\/p>\n

Cunningham isn\u2019t just establishing a winning culture in Detroit; he\u2019s building a lasting legacy off the court.<\/p>\n

By purchasing a minority stake in the Texas Rangers, Cunningham has taken a significant step into the world of ownership while remaining connected to his hometown roots.<\/p>\n

Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes holds ownership stakes in the Kansas City Royals<\/a> (MLB), Sporting KC (MLS), and Kansas City Current (NWSL). Tom Brady owns roughly five percent of the Las Vegas Raiders<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Even Cunningham\u2019s mentor, Kevin Durant, became a minority owner of the Philadelphia Union.<\/p>\n

Now, Cunningham will embark on an ownership journey of his own with the Texas Rangers.<\/p>\n

The Rangers kick off their Spring Training schedule on February 20 against the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n
