Housing starts are when construction for a new development begins, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nahb.org\/news-and-economics\/housing-economics\/national-statistics\/starts-and-permits\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">National Association of Home Builders<\/a>, while a closing is when ownership is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nahb.org\/other\/consumer-resources\/closing-on-your-home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">passed to a buyer<\/a>. District enrollment has decreased by 4,370 students over the last five years.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771022771_571_thumbnail.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\"\/>Slower job growth in the region, declining birthrates and an increase in other education opportunities also are contributing to the enrollment decline at KISD, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kellerisd.net\/get-involved\/committees\/long-range-planning-committee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">district<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A presentation from Zonda Demographics states the district has:<\/p>\n<p>95 homes in active inventoryRoughly 440 lots available to build on490 lots planned in the future<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771022772_193_thumbnail.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771022773_134_thumbnail.jpeg\" width=\"100%\" alt=\"chart visualization\"\/>What&#8217;s next With slower community growth and a decline and enrollment, Keller ISD&#8217;s newly created Long Range Planning and Citizens Advisory Bond Committees are considering cost-saving options for the school district.
