Have a mob of kids throwing a fit because you forgot the ice cream for a birthday cake? Call Alsies and be a hero.

Despite the high-tech trappings (the company has a Steve Jobs quote on its website), the actual offerings aren’t much different than the Good Humor trucks of the 1920s. Each truck has a slightly different menu, but guests can expect ice cream sandwiches, paleta-style pops, character treats in the shape of Spider-Man or SpongeBob SquarePants, and classic sweets like push-up pops and strawberry shortcake bars.

During the winter, the trucks shift gears, offering coffee, hot chocolate, and cider alongside candy, cookies, and assorted pastries. And, yes, each truck has loudspeakers, so there’s still a throwback vibe.

Former Goldman Sachs analyst Travis Kososki founded the brand in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 2020 while everyone else was taking up sourdough. The concept quickly took hold, becoming a franchise in 2024. Texas was an early adopter, debuting the trucks in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2025.

Alsies has not officially announced exactly when its first San Antonio area trucks will be rolling. But both the Schertz and Stone Oak routes have established Instagram profiles to follow for updates.

Will the familiar jingles of ice cream trucks soon become a thing of the past?
