SURPRISE, Ariz. \u2014 It was relatively low on the list of positional question marks \u2014 and possibly closer to the list of expected outcomes than anything else \u2014 but Texas Rangers<\/a> manager Skip Schumaker<\/a> confirmed Sunday that Brandon Nimmo<\/a> will play right field this season. <\/p>\n

Now all the 32-year-old has to do is reacclimate himself with the position. <\/p>\n

Nimmo hasn\u2019t played in right field for five years and has only started 93 of his 1,066 career games at the position. He largely played left field in each of the past two seasons with the New York Mets and was close to a neutral defender before the Rangers acquired him in exchange for second baseman Marcus Semien<\/a> last fall. <\/p>\n

His arm, which has ranged from average to below average over the last four seasons, may represent the largest dropoff from his predecessor (Gold Glover Adolis Garc\u00eda) at the position. <\/p>\n

\u201cI know all the intricacies of it,\u201d Nimmo said Monday, \u201cbut it\u2019s still getting out there and getting the reps, that\u2019s what I\u2019ll be looking to do over the next couple of weeks. … You just continue to work on that and get your reps in, and by the time the season comes around, you\u2019re pretty much on autopilot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nimmo\u2019s placement solves one-third of the outfield puzzle. The Rangers have yet to determine exactly where Wyatt Langford or Evan Carter will play. Langford was a Gold Glove finalist in left field last season but profiles well in center. Carter is a natural center fielder but has missed two-thirds of all possible games in the past two seasons and needs to improve against left-handed pitchers to certify himself as an everyday player. <\/p>\n
