The new natural gas facility is set to generate 455 megawatts starting in 2028.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/news\/local\/2026\/02\/17\/nrg-energy-to-build-617m-power-plant-in-harris-county-governor-abbott-announces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to our TV partner Channel 2<\/a>, it will be built at the site of an existing facility on Green Bayou.
