A 20-year-old North Texas man has been charged in the fatal stabbing of his mother and the kidnapping of her 4-year-old grandson in Mansfield.<\/p>\n
The suspect, Raymond Carmona, was taken into custody at the Tarrant County Jail on Saturday, Feb. 14, jail records show.<\/p>\n
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office identified<\/a> the homicide victim as 63-year-old Andrea Colgrove. She died from a stab wound to the neck.<\/p>\n Carmona stabbed Colgrove with an unknown weapon on Jan. 31 at her home on Cotton Drive, stole a car and kidnapped the 4-year-old boy, prosecutors allege in court records.<\/p>\n Later that day the suspect was spotted in Ozark, Missouri. After an Amber Alert, patrol officers found the missing 4-year-old in the stolen car with Carmona<\/a> and rescued the child, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Colgrove was the toddler\u2019s legal guardian, according to police. Carmona\u2019s relationship to the boy was not immediately clear.<\/p>\n Mansfield detectives traveled to Missouri and conducted an interview with Carmona, and he admitted to his involvement in the death of his mother, police said in a news release.<\/p>\n Carmona was arrested in Missouri and later brought back to Texas. He is charged with murder, aggravated kidnapping and theft of property, according to Tarrant County court records. His bond has been set at over $1 million.<\/p>\n \u2018Creator of Joy\u2019: Family mourns beloved baker<\/p>\n Colgrove, who was a baker at Market Street Bakery with over 20 years of experience<\/a>, was remembered as a \u201ccreator of joy, a weaver of memories, and an artist of life,\u201d according to an online obituary.<\/p>\n The obituary described Colgrove as someone who \u201cembodied selflessness, kindness, and humor, radiating warmth and compassion to all around her.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe lived by the teachings of her savior, Jesus Christ, and her generous spirit was evident in her unwavering support of family and friends,\u201d relatives wrote in the obituary. \u201cShe was a trustworthy confidant, a fierce advocate, and a loving presence who enriched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.\u201d<\/p>\n The Mansfield Police Department said it \u201cextends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Andrea Colgrove during this difficult time.
