Texas A&M<\/a> improved to 4\u20130 on the season with an 8\u20133 win over A&M\u2013Corpus Christi on Tuesday night, securing their first midweek victory of 2026 behind a late offensive surge and a trio of clutch swings from true freshmen.<\/p>\n

The Aggies started slowly at the plate and fell into a 2\u20130 deficit after the Islanders connected for a pair of solo home runs in the second inning. From that point on, however, the pitching staff settled in behind Gavin Lyons, who recorded six strikeouts in five innings.<\/p>\n

Outside of those early blasts, Texas A&M<\/a> allowed just one additional run, finishing the night with 13 strikeouts and no walks. The eight hits allowed were more than ideal, but four of them came from Southland Conference Hitter of the Week Cade Sanchez, who continued his strong start to the season.<\/p>\n

A&M didn\u2019t get on the board until the fourth inning, and it came from an unexpected source. Freshman outfielder Nico Partida delivered a solo home run to center field<\/a>, trimming the deficit to one and giving the Aggies their first spark of the night.<\/p>\n

Two innings later, another freshman stepped up. Starting shortstop Boston Kellner turned on a pitch for a two\u2011run home run, giving Texas A&M its first lead at 3\u20132. The Islanders briefly tied the game at the top of the seventh, but the Aggies answered immediately\u2014and once again, it was a newcomer who delivered. Freshman Jorian Wilson, still searching for his first hit of the season, launched a two\u2011run homer to right field to put A&M back in front for good.<\/p>\n

The Aggies pulled away in the eighth with a Bear Harrison solo home run and a Terrence Kiel II two\u2011run single, stretching the lead to 8\u20133 entering the final frame. Right\u2011hander Clayton Freshcorn closed the game with two singles allowed and three strikeouts to secure the win. On a night when the offense struggled early, seeing three true freshmen<\/a> deliver in high\u2011leverage moments was an encouraging sign for a team still settling into its identity.<\/p>\n
